Amberg, die ehemalige Residenzstadt der Oberpfalz, liegt an der Eisenstraße und war die Hauptstadt des Ruhrgebietes des Mittelalters. Eine Vielzahl profaner und kirchlicher Bauten sind heute noch Zeugen einer tausendjährigen Geschichte. Die insgesamt 39 Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet und verfügen über Dusche mit WC, Haartrockner, Safe, Minibar, Satellitenfernseh, Telefon, Internetzugang, Radio und Schreibtisch. Die historische Stadt Amberg, die zu den besterhaltenen mittelalterlichen Stadtanlagen Europas zählt, liegt rund 60 Kilometer östlich von Nürnberg an der Vils und ist gemeinsam mit Weiden Sitz einer Fachhochschule.
